- California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS)
- CalKIDS automatically funds savings accounts with $1.9 billion for all California newborns, regardless of income, and eligible low-income public school students enrolled in grades 1-12.
- To access a CalKIDS account, parents or guardians of newborns and eligible students should visit www.calkids.org. Accessing an account is easy and requires only a few pieces of information:
- For newborns the child’s Local Registration Number (LRN) is required.
- For students, the Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) or the unique code included in a CalKIDS notification letter is required.

- Stay Cool (During the Hottest Times of the Day):
- Those without air conditioning should check with their city or county for cooling centers or visit public locations such as a library or shopping mall.
- Avoid physical exertion or exercising outdoors.
- Wear lightweight, light colored, loose clothing, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen.
- Stay Hydrated:
- Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, even when not thirsty; drink sports drinks (in moderation with water) to help replace electrolytes lost during exercise.
- Avoid sugary, alcoholic, and very cold drinks.
- Stay Connected:
- Monitor those at high risk of heat-related illness including infants and young children; people 65 years of age or older; individuals with chronic illness, disabilities or who are pregnant.
- Use a buddy system when working in the heat.

- Check local news for weather forecasts, extreme heat alerts, and cooling centers.

- U.S. Department of Homeland Security is offering $374.9 million in grant funding for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP). SLCGP is a first-of-its-kind cybersecurity grant program specifically for state, local, and territorial (SLT) governments across the country to help them strengthen their cyber resilience.

- Student Loan Empowerment Project (SLE Project) – a two-year, $7.25 million grant program designed to assist nonprofit organizations in delivering education, counseling, and legal assistance programs for Californians with student loans.
- Grant Types: The SLE Project includes two main grant streams—Network Coordination grants support network-wide coordination for the Project. Service Partner grants fund community-based services, such as financial education counseling and legal assistance for borrowers.
